City of Kigali (CoK) appoints NXTKey as Smart City Technology Partner
The City of Kigali (CoK), Rwanda has appointed NXTKey Corporation as their technology partners to develop their Smart City Master Plan. The Master Plan will support CoK’s implementation of the Rwanda Smart City initiatives leveraging the use of emerging and futuristic technologies that would enhance Citizen And Business Services, Energy And Environment, Facilities, ICT Infrastructure, Mobility & Security, Crisis and Disaster Management, functional areas.
Kigali is the capital and largest city of Rwanda. It is near the nation’s geographic center in a region of rolling hills, with a series of valleys and ridges joined by steep slopes. The city has been Rwanda’s economic, cultural, and transport hub since it became the capital following independence.
The Kigali Innovation City (KIC) is a growing tech hub, home to Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa), large corporations, and technology companies. Its goal is to drive Rwanda’s economic growth through digital transformation.
NXTKey’s Technical Assistance for The City of Kigali will provide a plan to implement several initiatives that will support productive, accessible, create livable cities that attract talent, encourage innovation and create jobs and growth.
